Dacon Scoop Wire System
In response to the increased size and sophistication of modern offshore vessels over the past decade, Dacon has developed an innovative solution for high-sided vessels facing challenges in rescuing individuals from the water. These vessels, which must adhere to regulations regarding the retrieval of incapacitated persons from the water, face greater difficulties due to the larger distance between the deck and the water level.
To address this challenge, Dacon has introduced a new Scoop system that enables vessels with significant freeboards to effectively use the Dacon Scoop. This system incorporates a wire mechanism that allows the rescue net to be lowered to an appropriate height above the water, from which the scoop can be operated. Once the casualty is safely secured in the net, the scoop is leveled and lifted out of the water. A specialized modification of the Scoop creates a secure cradle for the casualty.
This wire system is suitable for vessels with either open or closed ship sides and can theoretically be installed at varying freeboard heights. It has already been successfully implemented on Offshore Wind service vessels and Offshore Emergency Response and Rescue Vessels (ERRVs).
